The project has a budget of €35 million and has received €25 million in funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. The Growsmarter project is coordinated by the City of Stockholm and joins 37 partners: three Lighthouse cities (Stockholm, Barcelona and Cologne), research centers and industrial companies.
To this end, Cologne has joined the city consortium from Stockholm and Barcelona to jointly receive funding from the Horizon 2020 Programme of the European Union to the tune of 25 million euros. GrowSmarter is an EU project testing and implementing 12 integrated smart city solutions that reduce climate impact while creating growth in three Lighthouse Cities: Stockholm, Cologne and Barcelona. The GrowSmarter project forms part of the EU Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and the aim is to develop innovative solutions for the smart cities of the future. The idea is to create a European economy that is more socially, environmentally and economically sustainable, by putting into practice innovative technologies and solutions.
